Advocacy > AKtion Club

The Arc is the lead sponsor of AKtion Club, a community service organization for adults with developmental disabilities. Members of AKtion Club participate in a variety of educational, inspirational and entertaining programs that help them become more independent while learning important leadership skills.

The goals of AKtion are:

To develop initiative and leadership skills;
To acknowledge an individual’s rights as a citizen and support them in achieving their life goals;
To provide experience in living and working together, and
To serve the community.

AKtion Club is a member of the Kiwanis International family. In Moore County, AKtion is sponsored in part by three participating Kiwanis clubs. Kiwanis Clubs lend volunteer and financial support to AKtion Club.

AKtion Club of Moore County meets monthly and membership is open to self-advocates with a desire to be more independent and productive in their community.
